Hardin Marine,  Has expanded their offerings of power steering pumps and components for marine use. With the demise of the original small cast style KRC steering pumps came a void in the marine market to support a compact size remote reservoir style of power steering pump that could be commonly mounted on performance based marine engines.

Hardin Marine knew that not only could they step to fill this void, they could create a pump offering with the long sought after additional volume capacities that would also retro-fit earlier applications. This increased volume would provide for faster more responsive steering at all speeds as well as a great docking manners. The New Evolution Series of power steering pumps delivers 4.1 Gallons of fluid per minute at a mere 800rpms. That is nearly a gallon or 25% more flow than previous offerings. This pump features the common -10 inlet and -6 outlet pressure side fittings.

Extreme Power Steering Pump And Port Cylinder Head Mounting Bracket

The amount of volume a power steering pump must produce to adequately operate a full hydraulic marine power steering system is dictated by the number of hydraulic cylinders incorporated in the system. The gallons per minute produced by the pump must coincide with the cubic inch displacement required by the steering cylinders. In other words the same pump flow for a 2 cylinder system would not keep up with the demands of a 4 cylinder system as used on a dual #6 SSM stern drive powered boat. In the past a standard pump or high volume pump had to be built specifically for the application. Hardin Marine has addressed this problem with their Extreme Power Steering Pump. by simply changing the outlet high pressure fitting, the same pump will now deliver the proper volume supply to any marine high performance steering system on the market today. Mounted on Hardin Marines' water crossover cover and belt driven off the sea pump below makes for a convenient installation.
